After 4 years and 5 months

On 4th December, 2011, we were assaulted with firearms by members of the PRI from the same community of Banavil, Chiapas. Thirteen people were displaced, mostly women and children, and our father Alonso López was forcibly disappeared by people from Banavil, members of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

Four years and five months have passed since this grave violation of human rights. As the family of Alonso López Luna, we continue in the search for truth and justice. But we also remember the obligation of the Mexican State to investigate the whereabouts of Alonso in order to find him. There are thousands of cases of disappearances in Mexico and the families continue in struggle, raising their voices, like our sisters and brothers, parents of the families of Ayotzinapa, Guerrero.

With the help of social organizations, international collectives, and civil society, we can reach true justice, like our demand that we have made for more than four years for justice, trial, and punishment of those responsible for the forced disappearance and forced displacement.

We would like to invite you to the presentation of a video and a photo-exhibition about the displaced of Banavil and a video about the displaced of Primero de Agosto. The event will be held on 8th April at 6:00 pm in Certificados 6, Colonia Alamos, Delegación Benito Juárez Mexico City at Café Zapata, and on 11th April at the same time in Radio Zapote at ENAH, periférico Sur y Zapote s/n. Colonia Isidro Fabela, delegación Tlalpán, Mexico City.

We take this opportunity to express our solidarity with the activities convened by the Committee for the Defence of Indigenous Freedoms CDLI Xinich’ and the Holy Trinity Mission (La Arena), on their pilgrimage from 3rd to 10h April.

Considering all this, we demand:

  • the truth about the disappearance of our father Alonso López, and the punishment of those responsible
  • that the orders of apprehension are carried out against those responsible of the forced disappearance of Alonso
  • immediate and definitive return for our families that are displaced
  • cancellation of the two orders of apprehension against Antonio and Pedro López Girón
  • reparations for the damages done to our homes in Banavil

We also demand:

  • the return alive of the 43 students from the Rural Normal School of Ayotzinapa, Guerrero

TRUTH AND JUSTICE FOR ALONSO LÓPEZ LUNA!

MAY ALONSO LÓPEZ LUNA BE FOUND!

ENOUGH OF FORCED DISAPPEARANCES IN MEXICO AND THE WORLD

ENOUGH OF FORCED DISPLACEMENT IN CHIAPAS

We thank the international organizations once again for their support, especially collectives in the Basque country for the activities they have carried out in their places of origin and other collectives in solidarity with our families. We continue to invite national and international collectives to continue in solidarity with our displaced families of Banavil.

Sincerely

The displaced families from Banavil, municipality of Tenejapa, Chiapas, Mexico
